One of the few sandy beaches on the Vale of Glamorgan coast is the always popular Dunraven Bay also known as Southerndown Beach. The area has been inhabited since the Iron Age and more recently Dunraven Castle a manor house occupied the a cliff top position. Not much remains of Dunraven Castle except for a few walls, however the walled gardens and ice house are a great stroll. A little further along and you find yourself on Trywn Y Witch (Witches Point) which provides spectacular views across Dunraven Bay to the west and Traeth Mawr Beach to the east.
