Aberthaw is probably better known for its current industrial activities, the cement works and power station which are present in the area. However a short walk into the Biodiversity Area and you see the old Aberthaw Lime Works a sign to the area's industrial past. The works were opened in 1888 by the Aberthaw Pebble Limestone Company which at its height produced 40 tonnes of burnt lime a day. The coastal setting is predominantly cobbles with areas of sand and tidal lagoons. A great place for a walk especially when the pond is providing perfect reflections.
